New Facility Expands Capacity

Crane Sales New Zealand Limited, along with sister-company MIMICO, have expanded their capacity after the purchase of a new site in Matamata.

The site, on the corner of Waihou Street and Rockfield Place on the outskirts of the rural Waikato town, was the previous home of Rocktec Ltd. It is almost next door to MIMICO’s headquarters, which is also based on Waihou Street.

Crane Sales New Zealand and MIMICO Engineering have moved into the facility, while MIMICO’s crushing and screening team will also be based there. Along with offices and large workshop, the facility also contains some serious yard space.

The yard offers extra space for the secure storage of MIMICO’s equipment stock holding. Already, a huge line-up of Kobelco excavators, Dynapac rollers, Moxy ADTs, and Metso crushing and screening equipment have made themselves at home on the new site.

Several years ago, MIMICO’s board realised the company was starting to out-grow their current facilities in Auckland and Matamata, so started looking for another site.

“The new site was chosen as it has a large yard space to store capital equipment, and the workshop provides us with the capacity to grow our engineering and crane sales businesses,” said Chris Gray, MIMICO’s General Manager.

“Our sister-company, Crane Sales New Zealand Ltd, along with MIMICO Engineering and MIMICO’s crushing and screening team, now have the space they need to help grow their respective businesses,” explained Gray. “Heavy equipment, such as our Kobleco, Dynapac and Moxy brands, will continue to be serviced out of our existing building.

“We spent a considerable amount of time and resources modernising the new facility to ensure it is fit for purpose, before moving the businesses over. I’m excited by the capacity on offer and the capability we can now offer our customers.”

Crane Sales New Zealand Ltd (CSNZ) has established its new head office in the facility, which will help the company meet the growing demands of their customers.

“CSNZ’s new site is part of the growing network which is focused on the crane and heavy transport industry,” said Ben Prowse, CSNZ’s Business Manager.

“As a family-owned and privately operated business, we pride ourselves on offering the best service and support possible for all our customer’s needs,” said Prowse. “The new branch is supported by a dedicated team of specialists with the high level of experience and product knowledge expected by our customers.

“With an increasing demand for our products and services across the country, the new site is an important part of CSNZ’s strategic plan to increase our capability.”

Growth is also on the agenda for MIMICO Engineering. “The new facility provides an opportunity for us to build on our existing markets with an integrated focus from design to fabrication, installation and service,” said MIMICO Engineering’s Scott Welsh.

“With the utilisation of extra space, along with a sandblasting and painting booth on-site, we will be able to offer a seamless delivery of products. We will also be able to focus on diversifying and adding new offerings for new and existing customers.”
